ABOUT KELLIE
A passionate, colorful, and versatile musician and Georgia native, KELLIE HENRY is an active flutist, teacher, adjudicator, and clinician in the Southeastern United States. She is the newly-appointed Artist Affiliate in Flute at Berry College and Vice President/President-Elect and Social Media Manager for the Atlanta Flute Club. Kellie has also previously served as the Marketing Director and Interim Executive Director for the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus, and as an interviewer and flute adjudicator for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program. She has adjudicated for regional and national competitions for the National Flute Association, Florida Flute Association, Oklahoma Flute Society, Atlanta Flute Club, and New York Flute Club.

Kellie leads an exciting professional performance career as an orchestral flutist. In 2019, she was appointed 2nd Flute with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra (NC) and 3rd Flute/Piccolo with the Albany (GA) Symphony Orchestra in 2017. Kellie also performs regularly as a substitute musician with numerous orchestras in the Southeastern United States, most recently the Greenville Symphony (SC), LaGrange Symphony (GA), Spartanburg Philharmonic (SC), Brevard Philharmonic (NC), Johnson City Symphony (TN), Gwinnett Ballet Theater (GA), Symphony of the Mountains (TN, VA, and NC), and Valdosta Symphony (GA) among others. Kellie has also collaborated and performed with names like Chris Brubeck and Triple Play, Steep Canyon Rangers, Boyz II Men, Michael Bearden (Lady Gaga's current music director), Michael W. Smith, the Kruger Brothers, and Béla Fleck.

As a teacher, Kellie’s unwavering dedication to her students shows in her deep understanding of what it means to nurture each student’s potential as a musician and as a human being. She strives to carry on the legacy of her grand teacher, Thomas Nyfenger - to teach great musicians, not just great flutists. Her mission as a teacher is to create a private studio that provides an entire enrichment program that extends beyond weekly private lessons and provides unique opportunities to nurture each student’s individual growth and personal goals. She also works as a flute sectional coach in schools around Metro Atlanta, and worked as a woodwind sectional coach and chamber music coach for the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus.

Kellie has received an Artist Diploma in Flute from The Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University, a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Valdosta State University, and studied privately for 6 years prior to collegiate studies. Her primary teachers include Anna Thibeault, Dr. Elizabeth Goode, and Dr. Andrée Martin.
When I'm not fluting...
Outside of my flute adventures and teaching my awesome students, I love finding excellent coffee at local coffee shops (also my favorite work spots away from home), playing with fur babies (pet therapy is a NECESSITY), traveling to the mountains (I'm a mountain soul through and through), trying new foods (cooking AND going out), and taking refreshing walks.
